Retreat to the New Life

Living the New Life (Colossians 3:1-3)
1 Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

Why are we going on retreat? It's a lot of money. It's a lot of work. It is a lot of time. After all, we just did it last year.

Well, the head count is down. So a lot of us are saying no, I can't fit it in. I don't have the money.

But for me and my house, we are all going, and one more of us. A little one, but he will be there, Gio Moreau. It will be his first retreat.

We are going because we have been raised to new life in Christ and we need to be reminded of the realities of heaven. Because we died, and our real life is hidden in Christ. Because we need to, annually, spend a whole weekend away just to let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill our lives. We need to teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. We want to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. (Colossians 3:16)

That's why we are going. And that's why it is worth every second, every penny.

Father, it is with that worthy intent, that I have been planning this retreat. Show up there, Beloved and fill us. And I won't care who else comes.
